The Tar Heels are the perfect example of an ACC team. They can recruit well, they produce NFL quality players and they absolutely underachieve at the NCAA level. Last year was a step in the right direction when UNC went 8-4 under first-year coach Larry Fedora and would have played for the ACC title had it been eligible. The Tar Heels also have a number of returning starters and will have a great chance to claim a weak Coastal Division. The Gamecocks have high expectations as well.

This is the first time these two teams have met since 2007.

Early prediction: South Carolina 31, North Carolina 20
