Georgia Tech football will have a new voice this season as former sports announcer Wes Durham moves on to Fox Sports South.

Brandon Gaudin, the radio voice of Butler basketball, is headed to Georgia Tech. Gaudin also will conduct play-by-play broadcasting for men's basketball and host a weekly show with behind-the-scenes discussions and interviews with coaches Paul Johnson and Brian Gregory. Only 29 years old, the talented announcer was selected from a pool of 150 applicants.

Gaudin knows the pressure of calling big college games, including Butler's Final Four run in 2010. Prior to the hiring Mike Bobinski said a candidate who "can assimilate into our culture and into our place is as an important as anything." Gaudin fits the model of the Yellow Jackets' new sports marketing concept. Fitting into the culture of Georgia Tech, Gaudin was a fan favorite at Butler and will always be known for his play-by-play call of Butler's buzzer-beater win over Gonzaga.

A review of BrandonGaudin.com shows an impressive resume with local ties to Turner Sports. A review by the Indianapolis Star, the top newspaper in Indiana, said, "By all accounts, Gaudin is a rising star in the industry."

Replacing the legendary Durham, an award-winning broadcaster, is impossible. But Gaudin is prepared to show that he is a rising star in the industry. Based on Gaudin's Twitter account, Gaudin is fitting into the culture of Georgia Tech football and already receiving kudos from the student body. Gaudin also has a YouTube channel full of documented memorable moments and play-by-play calls over the course of his career.
