Plummer fits the mold of your typical tackling machine. A big (6-1, 234), physical linebacker with great speed and the ability to make plays from sideline to sideline. He is also the leader of a defense that is off to a 3-1 start with a win over Penn State and a close game against South Carolina. In those games, Plummer was impressive, tallying 25 tackles. Plummer does a great job at diagnosing plays and attacking the hole when he sees it open.
Even with these great instincts, Plummer struggles at times to get off blocks when he is engaged by opposing linemen. He can also use some work in identifying receivers in pass defense, where he tends to drift out of place.
