Giants RB David Wilson Benched After Fumbles
By Allen Kim
The New York Giants rushing attack was supposed to flourish behind second-year RB David Wilson, but it instead failed in unspectacular fashion. Giants fans and fantasy football owners everywhere could only watch in horror as Wilson fumbled away his opportunity to shine in a potential breakout game.
It was only minutes into the first quarter before Wilson lost his first fumble, but coach Tom Coughlin opted to stay with Wilson after a turnover that normally would have sent him to the pine had Andre Brown not injured himself. Then, on the first possession of the third quarter, he fumbled for the second time and found himself on the bench for the remainder of the game. He finished the night with 19 rushing yards on seven carries
Da’Rel Scott replaced Wilson in the lineup, and while he outplayed Wilson, he ultimately bobbled a screen pass that cost the team the game. The pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown to seal the game for Dallas.
The Giants worked out Jonathan Dwyer, Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower last week, and there’s a very good chance that the Giants will sign one of them sometime this week. They could also turn to a veteran like Willis McGahee.
