Giants’ Victor Cruz, Tuck And Baas Injured
By Allen Kim
Not only did the New York Giants lose to the Indianapolis Colts in their second preseason game, they lost WR Victor Cruz, DE Justin Tuck And C David Baas to injuries.
Coach Tom Coughlin said that Cruz has a jammed heel and that he’s sore. Cruz didn’t look to be in any sort of pain when he emerged from the locker room, and walked around on the sidelines without any sort of hitch in his step. Most believe that the injury is not too serious, and all signs point to Cruz being ready for Week 1 of the regular season. Whether he plays next week in the preseason dress rehearsal game has yet to be seen, but it appears that he avoided a major injury.
Early tests show that Tuck has a slight hamstring injury, but he’ll be further evaluated by the medical staff to see if there was anything that they may have missed. Although, Tuck did say that he’s healthy while being interviewed last night, so perhaps there isn’t much to worry about when it comes to their defensive captain.
Baas limped off the field during the team’s first drive, and he was diagnosed with a sprained MCL, according to Ohm Youngmisuk. He’s undoubtedly going to miss the rest of the preseason, and there’s a chance he may miss a week or two of the regular season.
