Joeckel Suffers Season-Ending Ankle Fracture

A week after the Jacksonville Jaguars traded away LT Eugene Monroe to the Baltimore Ravens, they lose rookie LT Luke Joeckel to a season-ending high-ankle fracture. Joeckel's right leg was rolled up on by a Rams player in the first quarter of their Week 5 matchup against the St. Louis Rams, and he was carted off the field. Coach Gus Bradley later revealed the severity of the injury, and this is unfortunate for Joeckel making his first start at left tackle.
“You lose a good player, but guys will step up,” Bradley said.
The Jaguars absymal season continues, and the only thing left to look forward to for fans is the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 draft. Although, with Blaine Gabbert battling an injury of his own, they have a better chance to win with Chad Henne behind center. Not to mention, WR Justin Blackmon made his 2013 season debut, and he was spectacular, catching five passes for 136 yards and a touchdown.
"It wasn't pretty," said Gabbert. "That's tough. My heart goes out to him because he was playing well and he was eager to get in at left tackle. That's the rough part about this game. It is a physical sport and injuries like that do happen."
