Keenan Reynolds was born in Antioch, Tennessee. A quarterback for the Navy Midshipmen, he is known for his rare combination of both rushing and passing ability. In 2013, he became the first quarterback in the history of college football to reach 30 rushing touchdowns in a single season.
As a youngster, Reynolds attended Goodpasture Christian School, where he was a two-time All-State selection and was twice named as the district's Most Valuable Player. In 2010 and 2011, he led the school's football team to back-to-back District Championships, winning 26 games across the two seasons. After making official visits to Wofford and Air Force, he eventually committed to joining Navy's football program.
In 2012, Reynolds was able to secure playing time as a true freshman, making appearances in 13 games. He started the final eight games of the season, leading the team to wins in six of them, and became the first freshman to start at quarterback for Navy in more than 20 years. Moreover, he led the team to victory in his first four starts, becoming the school's first quarterback to achieve that feat since 1979. Over the course of the full year, Reynolds managed to total 898 passing yards for nine touchdowns and 649 rushing yards for 10 touchdowns. His performances were rewarded at the end of the season, when he was voted as the Independent Rookie of the Year.
Having impressed as a rookie, Reynolds went into the 2013 season as the team's starting quarterback and would go on to enjoy an exceptional season, in which he recorded 1,057 passing yards, rushed for 1,346 yards and was credited with 39 touchdowns in total. At the Armed Forces Bowl, he helped lead Navy to a 24-6 victory over the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders, contributing two rushing touchdowns. In the process, he became only the fourth player in the history of the FBS to eclipse 30 rushing touchdowns in a single season, and the first quarterback to ever exceed that mark.
Reynolds finished his junior season with 31 rushing touchdowns, which is tied for the third highest tally in college football history. He was named as an honorable mention All-American by Sports Illustrated and also received first team All-Independent honors.
