Liga de Futbol Profesional Boliviano Wrap: Leaders lose
By Football News
Wilstermann survived a late comeback from The Strongest to beat the Liga de Futbol Profesional Boliviano leaders 4-3 and rise to fourth.
The Strongest had won five of their past six matches ahead of their trip to play Wilstermann in Cochabamba but a three-goal blitz from the home side at the start of the second half saw the hosts lead 4-1 with less than half an hour to play.
Ernesto Cristaldo and Pablo Escobar scored in the 64th and 90th minutes respectively for The Strongest but the LFPB leaders were unable to manage an equaliser and Wilstermann held on for an impressive win.
The victory took Wilstermann to 17 points from nine games, taking them above San Jose into fourth position in the standings, one point adrift of The Strongest, who remain top of the table.
The Strongest lead Nacional Potosi on goals scored after the latter defeated local rivals Real Potosi 3-0, while Bolivar sit third on 17 points, ahead of Wilstermann on goal difference.
Augusto Andaveris gave Wilstermann the lead on Sunday in the 13th minute before Jair Reynoso equalised just after the half-hour mark.
Rodrigo Ramallo put Wilstermann in front again two minutes after half-time before goals from Edward Zenteno and Berodia saw the home side burst away from The Strongest.
The visitors' late flurry ensured a nervous finish for the hosts, who held on.
San Jose had to come from behind twice to draw 2-2 away to Bolivar, while Oriente Petrolero drew 1-1 with Sport Boys in the last game of the round.
In other LFPB results, Club Universitario defeated Blooming 2-0, while Guabira and Aurora played out a scoreless draw.
