Lions' Reggie Bush Not Practicing Or Cleared To Play
By Allen Kim
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush is not practicing yet, and he is still waiting for clearance by team doctors to play this Sunday when the team faces off against Washington, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. If Bush were to miss the game, Joique Bell would get the nod to start.
“I feel a lot better than I thought I was going to be feeling at this point in time," Bush said in an interview with WXYT-FM. "My knee feels pretty good. It's a day-to-day thing right now. Thankfully, I avoided anything serious that might have required surgery or being out for a long period of time.”
While Bush seems upbeat and positive, he still sounds pretty tentative about his status and health. He stopped short of declaring himself healthy and ready to suit up for Sunday’s matchup.
“Like I said, I'm optimistic to play Sunday, but there's so many different things that need to happen,” Bush said. “I've got to get approval from the doctors and coaches and trainers, so I still have some work cut out for me.
"I hate missing games. It pains me to miss practice. I hate missing practice because I feel like the reps are vital to your performance on Sunday.”
ProFootballTalk reported yesterday that Bush has a 50-50 chance of playing this Sunday. We should know more after the Lions conclude their final practice sessions for the week and when they release their injury report on Friday.
