Liverpool, Barcelona Announce EA Sports Partnerships

EA Sports penned three-year long deals with two of Europe's most famous clubs this week, as Liverpool FC and FC Barcelona teamed up with the makers of the popular FIFA video game series.

Players from both teams will go through 3D head scans to make their appearance on the game as realistic as possible. Side-by-side headshots of Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger have been released. The accuracy with which the footballers are displayed is quite stunning. Even individual pieces of facial hair are taken into account by the scanner.

Representatives of both clubs touted the marketing opportunity that the deal with EA Sports brings to the table. Online, many wallpapers will be made available to fans, including special covers that can be printed out and slid into the game's cover slot.

After the game's release, a tournament between players will be held at each club to determine both squad's top FIFA 14 gamer. Jose Enrique won last year's competition at Liverpool.

Fans will be treated to smaller contests on match days, as the EA Sports Dugout, a portable arcade, will be placed outside of stadiums. Inside the Dugout, supporters can battle it out in FIFA or on other available EA Sports titles.

The two clubs join the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Valencia in their official partnerships with EA.
