LSU DE Rasco Likely Out For Spring
LSU defensive end Jermauria Rasco, an upcoming senior and perhaps the team's best pass rusher, likely will miss all of spring practice after having shoulder surgery.
Rasco had surgery on his left shoulder for the second time in a calendar year, according to NOLA.com.
"Rasco will be out," coach Les Miles said Saturday. "If we can get him back late it might be worth it, but not likely."
Listed at 6-foot-3, 255 pounds, Rasco made a team-high four sacks and eight quarterback hurries in 2013, according to LSU's stats. Sophomore Tashawn Bower took first-team reps in place of Rasco on Saturday, while Danielle Hunter and his team-best eight tackles for loss in 2013 worked at right defensive end.
Rasco played in all 13 games last season and LSU will need him to have a good senior year.
Safety Corey Thompson, also out due to a knee injury, may or may not return by the end of spring practice. Miles also didn't rule out the possibility of someone else starting at quarterback, though most assume sophomore Anthony Jennings will assume the role in the wake of Zach Mettenberger barring injury.
