Luis Suarez reportedly returns to Liverpool fold

By Football News

Luis Suarez has returned to training with Liverpool's first-team squad, reports suggest.

The wantaway Uruguay striker has spent the last week isolated from the senior squad following his public outbursts over his desire to leave Anfield.

Boss Brendan Rodgers had demanded an apology from the 26-year-old - who is banned for the first six matches of the Premier League season following his bite on Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic - before he would be considered for selection again.

However, reports on Friday suggested that Suarez had taken part in a first-team session at the club's Melwood training base, with a climb down by the forward now looking likely.

The saga over the former Ajax man's future has been one of the talking points of the transfer window, with Arsenal having failed with two bids for his services - the second apparently worth one pound over £40million - while Real Madrid have also been linked.

Liverpool insist that he will not be sold, and the stand-off intensified earlier this month when Suarez claimed that he had been made a "promise" that he could leave should the club fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Rodgers hit back with a stinging public rebuke, saying: "There has been total disrespect of the club - a club that has given him everything.

"Obviously the remarks I've read are bitterly disappointing - but my job is bigger than that."

However, the pair may now have finally resolved their differences, although it remains to be seen whether the move could ultimately pave the way for Suarez to stay.

With Suarez's future still unresolved, Rodgers has been active in the transfer market to boost his attacking options, and a deal for Anzhi Makhachkala's Brazilian winger Willian is rumoured to be close.

The club are also believed to have agreed to sign Valencia defender Aly Cissokho on loan with a view to permanent deal, with official confirmation of that move expected next week.
