Maxwell Football Club president Ron Jaworski announced the 16 semifinalists for the 2013 Maxwell Award on Tuesday. The award is given to the collegiate player of the year, and is arguably one of the most prestigious awards outside of the Heisman Trophy.

Ten of the semifinalists are quarterbacks, including two 2012 semifinalists, Alabama's AJ McCarron and Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel, as well as the two front-runners for this year's Heisman, Oregon's Marcus Mariota and Florida State's Jameis Winston.

The list of semifinalists also includes four running backs (Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey, Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon, Washington's Bishop Sankey, Baylor's Lache Seastrunk) and two wide receivers (Oregon State's Brandin Cooks, Texas A&M's Mike Evans).

The Maxwell Award's three finalists will be announced Nov. 25, and the 77th Maxwell Award winner will be announced Dec. 12 on the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.

Last season's Maxwell Award went to Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o.
