Messi keen on Barca stay
By Football News
Barcelona star Lionel Messi wants to stay at the club for the foreseeable future and has already turned his attention to next season.
The 25-year-old Argentine enjoyed another prolific season in front of goal, scoring 60 goals in 50 matches in all competitions for the Catalan giants during 2012-13.
Despite being a Barcelona player since 2000, Messi is not growing weary at the club and remains committed to helping them achieve domestic and continental success.
He would have no shortage of suitors if he decided to exit Barcelona, but Messi declared that he is happy and leaving has not crossed his mind.
"I've never thought about playing at any other club than Barca," Messi said at a promotional event in Qatar.
Messi will finish this season's La Liga campaign as top scorer, with his 46-goal haul putting him comfortably ahead of Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo (34) and Atletico Madrid's Radamel Falcao (28).
Barca have already wrapped up their fourth La Liga crown in five seasons but it is the only trophy the club have won in an otherwise-disappointing season.
Messi has urged his team-mates to move on quickly though and forget their embarrassing 7-0 aggregate defeat in the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich.
"Winning the league was very good, although the objective is always to win everything," he said.
"There's no need to dwell any more on what happened against Bayern. This season is over and we need to prepare to return at our best next season."
