Bio

Michael Bennett is a defensive tackle for the Ohio State University Buckeyes of the Big Ten Conference. He was named a 2014 first-team preseason All-American selection by Phil Steele.

High School

Bennett attended Centerville High School in Ohio. He was named to the first-team Division I all-Ohio team and played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Bennett was named player of the year in his conference twice and helped lead Centerville to the 2010 regional semifinals.

College

Bennett played right away at Ohio State as a true freshman in 2011. He participated in all 13 games, making 17 tackles and finishing tied for third on the Buckeyes with five tackles for loss. He also finished in a tie for second on the team in sacks with three.

In 2012, Bennett missed the first four games of the season but participated in the final eight games and tallied 11 tackles. Bennett emerged as a star in 2013, tallying 42 tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss. He finished tied for second on the team with seven sacks. Bennett also forced three fumbles and recovered two fumbles as well.

The media and the coaches both selected Bennett as an All-Big Ten second team performer in 2013. CBS Sports lists Bennett as their top prospect at the defensive tackle position for the 2015 draft. Bennett moves to the nose guard position on the defensive line in 2014.
