A college football season is a fickle thing.

With only 12 regular-season games and 120 (BCS) teams, one false move is the difference between going bowling and going home, or between success and failure.

Same goes for the Big Ten, where teams are fighting for all different kinds of designations — from Ohio State gunning for a title shot to Minnesota aiming to be relevant. While every game on the schedule is important, there will one that if lost could become the team's downfall.

If a college football season is an unstable, unpredictable and sensitive thing, then these games are what can hold it together — the lynchpins.
