Sam Bradford has two years remaining on his rookie deal and was on pace for a career year in 2013 until an ACL injury ended his season. Bradford is far from a sure thing and selecting a quarterback would make sense if his 2014 turns out not to be worthy of the franchise QB he was selected to be.
The Rams could be in a prime position in the second or third round to pick up Jimmy Garoppolo out of Eastern Illinois. At 66-foot-2, 226 pounds, Garoppolo is poised and tough in the pocket, and he can take hit and get back up. Competitive, smart, durable, with good football intelligence, all qualities you want in a developing QB. The Rams could wait and see if Garoppolo drops into Round 3, but it all comes back to whether they want to keep all their eggs in the Bradford basket.
