The New England Patriots announced earlier today that they have placed OG Tyronne Greene on injured reserve and released WR Michael Jenkins and OL Kevin Haslam.

The team did not disclose the source of Greene’s season-ending injury, but it was serious enough to place him on injured reserve. He was let go by the team in May only to be re-signed in July. There’s a good chance that the team will release him with an injury settlement now that he has been shelved for the 2013 season.

Jenkins couldn’t beat out young receivers like Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins for a spot in the rotation, and it certainly doesn’t bode well for his chances of landing a job elsewhere if he couldn’t make their roster. He last played for the Minnesota Vikings, and the nine-year veteran has his work cut out for him if he hopes to play this upcoming season.

Haslam was claimed off of waivers from the San Diego Chargers in May. The 26-year-old’s chances of making the final roster in New England was always slim, and his release only confirms that widely held belief.
