Percy Harvin To Practice Next Week, Play Week 8?
By Allen Kim
With every passing day, it appears that Seattle Seahawks WR Percy Harvin is creeping closer and closer to returning to the field.
The latest report by Ian Rapoport of NFL.com has Harvin returning to practice next week with a chance to play against the division-rival St. Louis Rams in Week 8. This would be him well ahead of the originally targeted Thanksgiving day return.
If true, it’s fitting that Harvin will make his debut for the Seahawks under the primetime lights on Monday Night Football. Harvin is one of the most exciting and dangerous players in the NFL, and he certainly brings a level of excitement worthy of a national stage.
However, Mike Silver of the NFL Network believes that the Seahawks will take a more cautious approach with Harvin, even if he is healthy and able to play.
"They know when Percy Harvin comes back he'll give that offense a boost simply as a decoy, let alone as a threat,” said Silver. “However, he's never practiced with them, he's not familiar with their offense, they'd like him to practice for a while. Maybe that Monday night game on Dec. 2 against the Saints coming off the bye, would be a more realistic date from the team's perspective."
Regardless of whether or not he plays in Week 8, it’s clear that he’s ahead of schedule and that his return is imminent.
