CHICAGO (May 7, 2013) - Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Month by the media for the month of April in the 2013 NWSL season.

Sinclair, 29, scored two goals and had an assist over three games to help Portland to a 2-0-1 record for the month and became the first player in the history of the league to register both a goal and an assist.

The Canada international converted from the penalty spot to net the first goal of the season for the Thorns in a 1-1 draw with FC Kansas City in the inaugural NWSL game on April 13.

The Burnaby, B.C. native assisted on forward Alex Morgan's goal in a 2-1 win for Portland against Seattle Reign FC in the Thorns' home-opener on April 21. Sinclair then scored her team's second goal in the Thorns' next game - a 2-0 road victory over the Chicago Red Stars on April 27.

Portland Thorns FC will return to action Sunday, May 12 at 6 p.m. ET against the Chicago Red Stars at the Benedictine University Sports Complex in Lisle, Ill.

The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
