At one time, the University of Miami was a factory for producing NFL players. With the draft this week, I thought it would be cool to determine which single year produced the best class. This was very difficult and I left some quality classes off the list, so please feel free to challenge my selections.

These rankings are based on NFL performance over the respective players’ careers. One of the major sources for this research is a really cool tool from the folks at the Sun Sentinel. It is essentially a database of every player drafted into the league from Miami – they also have Florida and Florida State covered if you’re interested. You will notice that all five that made the list have a strong correlation to Miami’s national championship years.
