The NFL has fined Robert Griffin III $10,000 for wearing unauthorized apparel prior to the Washington Redskins preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. Mark Maske of the Washington Post was the first to report the news.

The t-shirt RGIII wore during warm ups had the words “Operation Patience” plastered across the front. While he was in full uniform for the game, the NFL requires players to stay in line with uniform rules before and after the game too.

This is nothing new for Griffin. He was fined $10,000 last year for wearing an adidas shirt to a postgame interview (the NFL has a licensing deal with Nike). Adidas probably gladly reimbursed him for the endorsement and extra attention the incident garnered.

All reports out of training camp have been positive, and Griffin appears to be on track to start Week 1 against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles. Operation Patience will soon be over for Griffin and ‘Skins fans eagerly anticipating his return.
