Riley Cooper, Cary Williams Fight At Eagles Practice
By Allen Kim
Philadelphia Eagles WR Riley Cooper got into a fight with CB Cary Williams after the two got tangled during a drill in practice earlier today, as witnessed by Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Video of the fight has surfaced from CSN Philly.
McLane tweeted the events: “Williams was all kinds of fired up and needed to be held back by multiple players. It's ended for now. Michael Vick had to jump in and hold Williams back. Cornerback is now walking it off. Cooper has his head down and DeSean is talking to him. DeSean Jackson walked over to Cary Williams and got in his face and talked to him. Williams still walking alone on side field.”
Also of note is that when Vick went in to hold Williams back for a second time, Williams said something to Vick that set him off. Vick had to be held back after Williams’ comments, but it’s unknown what was said to Vick to cause the outburst.
While it’s clear that the fight was a result of the two players getting tangled, it’s possible that Cooper’s racial outburst from a few weeks back played a role in what was clearly an intense skirmish.
