According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s D. Orlando Ledbetter, the Atlanta Falcons had a litany of players either limited or out for practice on Wednesday. Most notably, both Roddy White (ankle) and Julio Jones (knee) were listed as having sat out.

White has been dealing with a high-ankle sprain for a while now, but was able to play through it Week 1 serving mostly as a decoy. Given his past — he has never missed a game since entering the league in 2005 — he will likely go Week 2 and at least serve in the same capacity as last week. The situation is worth monitoring leading up to Sunday and beyond as high-ankle sprains have a tendency to linger, especially when a player tries to play through it.

Prior to today, we didn’t have any indication that Jones was dealing with an injury, so it is most likely a minor issue with the team holding him out as more of a precaution than anything. Like White, he has shown in his brief career that he is capable of playing through minor injuries (although he missed three games his rookie year). Again, it’s worth keeping an eye on, but we have no reason to believe that he won’t suit up and be at full speed this week against St. Louis as Atlanta looks to bounce back from their Week 1 loss to the Saints.
