Bio

Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo, usually known as Sergio Agüero and sometimes known by his nickname, Kun Agüero, was born in Quilmes, Argentina on 2 June 1988. Over the years, his playing style has drawn comparisons with the likes of Romário, Carlos Tévez and the legendary Diego Maradona. He is known for his superb close control, strength, balance and agility, which have helped him to emerge as one of the world's most deadly strikers.

Agüero began his career in Argentina with Independiente, and rose through their youth academy. At the age of 15, he made his debut for the senior side and over the next few seasons, he became an important first team player. Then, prior to the 2006-07 season, he moved to Spain to join Atlético Madrid. During his time with the side, he was able to establish himself as one of the top prospects in European football and helped the club to win the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2010. After scoring 27 goals in all competitions during 2010-11 season, Agüero asked to leave the club and successfully secured a move to Manchester City for a fee of around £35 million.

Upon arriving in Manchester, he look little time to settle in, scoring two goals on his Premier League debut against Swansea. Over the course of the season, Agüero scored 30 goals in all competitions. The most memorable goal was a dramatic last-minute winner against Queens Park Rangers, in the final game of the season, which won the 2011-12 Premier League title for City; their first league title for 44 years.

At international level, Agüero has also enjoyed success, winning the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in both 2005 and 2007 and being named Player of the Tournament at the latter. In addition, he was part of the Argentina side which won Olympic gold in 2008.
