As the latest season of college football is set to kick off in just a few short weeks, the MAC and its teams are preparing for what should be a wild 2013.

After earning its first-ever trip to a BCS bowl game, all eyes are on Jordan Lynch and Northern Illinois to see what the Huskies will do for an encore.

Then there are the contenders like Ball State, Bolwing Green, Ohio, and Toledo, which are all looking to unseat NIU as the MAC champions.  

Individuals like the previously-mentioned Lynch, Kent State’s Roosevelt Nix, Buffalo’s Khalil Mack, Ohio’s Tyler Tettleton, Ball State’s Keith Wenning and Willie Snead, and Central Michigan’s Zurlon Tipton all will be doing what they can to bolster their team’s chances of success.

Three teams come into the season under new leadership with Rod Carey at Northern Illinois, P.J. Fleck at Western Michigan and Paul Haynes at Kent State all in their first year as head coaches.

And there are all of the unknowns preparing to jump out and surprise everyone throughout the season. Speculation can only account for what is already known. Undoubtedly, things will defy expectations.
