Sky blue fc signs danish forward nadia nadim on loan

(June 18, 2014) - Sky Blue FC announced today the club has acquired forward Nadia Nadim on loan from Danish club Fortuna Hjørring, pending receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Per league and club policy, terms of the loan were not disclosed.

"We would like to thank Fortuna Hjørring for loaning Nadia to us," Sky Blue FC technical director and head coach Jim Gabarra said. "We look forward to her contributions to Sky Blue FC.  We are confident that we will benefit from her being a part of our roster and that she will develop from the NWSL experience."

Fortuna Hjørring competes in the Elitedivisionen, which is the highest level of competition for women's soccer in Denmark. Nadim has been a member of the squad since 2012, and this past season the team won the league championship. Her previous clubs include Skovbakken, Team Viborg and B52 Aalborg.

Nadim made her debut for the Denmark Women's National Team during the 2009 Algarve Cup in the 2-0 win against the United States. She also competed in the UEFA Women's Championship in 2013 and 2009. 

Most recently, she has started the past two Women's World Cup qualifying matches for Denmark. She was also on the 2014 Algarve Cup roster, and scored a goal in the 5-3 victory against the U.S. Women's National Team.
