Sporting KC announced recently that they have reached a new deal with right back Chance Myers. The new deal was announced via the teams official website. The former first round selection from 2008 reported to preseason practice in Tuscon, Ariz., with the rest of the squad Thursday.

“Re-signing Chance was an important goal of ours in the offseason,” manager Peter Vermes told the media. “We’re looking forward to him entering training camp and another season with our team because he's been one of the core members of this group. We hope to continue the consistency that we've had over that time.”

Myers was just as happy to be re-signed by the club.

“It’s exciting and I’m happy to be home,” Myers said. “I’m looking forward to a repeat of last year. Everybody is ready to put in a lot of hard work and get the season started.”

This signing helps solidify Sporting KC's ferocious back four. The team of Myers, Matt Besler, Aurelien Collin and Seth Sinovic have put up a jaw dropping 29-7-8 record when all four are playing.

With the right back now re-signed back to the club, Sporting KC looks ready to make a cup defense this season. With Myers being a dangerous blend of offense and defense, the rest of the league will have a hard time handling the defending champions.
