Stanford wants to take their program to the next level and win a national championship. If they want it, they will need an undeafeated season, which they haven't done since 1940. The last time they had a zero in their win-loss record was when they were defeated in 1960 (0-10).

Here is a list of the elite tier of Stanford's opponents and the likelihood of that team taking down the Cardinal. I'll make a case why each of the four teams can win. Next week's installment will have a similar format and will focus on the second tier of Stanford's 2013 opponents.
