Bio

Steven Rashad Jackson was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 22, 1983. A running back for the Atlanta Falcons, he previously played nine seasons for the St. Louis Rams. Jackson is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and has amassed more than 10,000 rushing yards during his NFL career. He currently ranks inside the all-time top 20 for total career rushing yards.

Jackson attended Eldorado High School, where he emerged as a promising running back prospect and received the Sunrise Regional MVP award. He recorded 6,396 rushing yards and 81 touchdowns over the duration of his time with the team and helped Eldorado to reach the state final in his senior season. In 2011, he was inducted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame, largely due to his contributions at the school.

For college, Jackson opted to attend Oregon State University, where he spent three years playing for the Oregon State Beavers. He ranks second in the school's record books for all-purpose yards and as a junior, he ranked in the top ten in the nation for all-purpose yards, scoring and rushing.

A knee injury affected his stock during the 2004 NFL Draft, but Jackson was eventually selected as the 24th overall pick, by the St. Louis Rams. He subsequently signed a five year deal with the team and served as backup to Marshall Faulk in his rookie season, after which he was voted St. Louis Rams Rookie of the Year. In 2005, he was promoted to starting running back and eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Then, in 2006, he pushed on further, recording a career-best 1,528 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns and earning the first Pro Bowl selection of his career.

Additional Pro Bowl selections followed after the 2009 and 2010 seasons, with Jackson exceeding 1,200 rushing yards in both years. By the time he left the Rams at the end of the 2012 season, he had surpassed 10,000 rushing yards in total and had recorded eight consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 yards rushing.

In 2013, Jackson was allowed to leave the Rams and he went on to sign a three-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons. His first season with the Falcons marked the first time since his rookie year that he failed to reach the 1,000 rushing yards mark.
