Top 15 All-Time Mountain West Players
By Joe Jenkins
2013 will mark the 15th season of Mountain West football. In that short time, the conference has busted the BCS party three times and created a debate about the 2008 national champion.
Though some of the schools in the conference have changed, the MWC still is regarded as the strongest of the non-automatic qualifying conferences.
It takes great players to create great teams. So in honor of the MWC's 15th year of slaying college football's giants, we're ranking the Top 15 players ever to play in the conference.
One ground rule: We decided that a player had to play at least one season in the MWC to qualify for the list, so you won't see Marshall Faulk or Ty Detmer making the list since they made their mark in the WAC.
Think we're missing a player? Don't like someone's ranking? Let us know what you think below.
Let's get started...
I understand Urlacher only played a year in the conference, but 8 is too low for a guy who did it all in ABQ. Really can't argue with anyone else . . .
It's crap that Bradlee Van Pelt isn't on this list. I believe along with Dalton he is the only other play to win two play of the year awards in the MWC.

Thanks Catch. I'll say that if BSU was in the MWC forMoore's four years (or probably even 3 out of the 4), he would have dropped Smith to #2. Moore was incredible, but 75% of his career was in a different conference--including his best season.
An intelligent, well thought out list. Would be easy to put someone like Moore higher (he may deserve it) and forget guys like Hughes and Weddle. Of course, had Boise been in the MWC earlier, this list would look a lot different.
