• 2012 Fiesta Bowl; Oklahoma State 41, Stanford 38 (OT). This one had memorable moments, from Andrew Luck (27-of-31, 347 yards) and Justin Blackmon (8 catches, 186 yards, 3 TDs) going off to Mike Gundy kicking a field goal on first-and-goal from the 1 in overtime. Stanford had its chances, but two field goals went begging. Quinn Sharp, however, drove one through to win it for OSU.

• 2006 Sugar Bowl: West Virginia 38, Georgia 35. This game was Georgia’s from the start, after the game was moved to Atlanta because of Hurricane Katrina repercussions around the Superdome. But the Mountaineers had none of it, going up 28-0 in the second quarter. The game turned into a close one, but WVU had to punt — but it didn’t, running a gutsy and successful fake on 4th-and-6 to seal it.

• 2005 Sugar Bowl; Auburn 16, Virginia Tech 13. This one’s backstory may have better than the game, which was great. The Tigers were 13-0, but didn’t make the final two. That went to USC and Oklahoma, the former smashing the latter in the title game. BCS brought the drama for this one.
