5. Without question the most tragic figure in team history, Ricky Bell’s star had only begun to shine when a rare connective-tissue disease took his life in 1984 at the age of 29. Tampa’s No. 1 pick in 1977 out of Southern California, Bell was the feature back during his four seasons (1977-1980) and was a huge reason why the Bucs made a magical run to the NFC Championship Game in 1979. During his five seasons in Tampa Bay, Bell totaled 3,057 yards and 16 touchdowns.
