Tottenham have reached an agreement to bring Valencia striker Roberto Soldado to the club.

Soldado, 28, has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane for much of the close-season and Valencia president Amadeo Salvo revealed on Wednesday that a deal for the Spain international was close.

Spurs have now confirmed that an agreement has been reached with the Liga outfit, with the striker arriving in the Premier League after three years at the Mestalla for a fee believed to be in the region of £26million.

Soldado will bolster a Tottenham forward line that currently boasts just two senior strikers in Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor.

A statement on the club's official website read: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Roberto Soldado subject to medical."

Soldado enjoyed a prolific spell with Valencia, scoring 80 times in 146 appearances.

He has won 11 international caps for Spain, netting six goals.
