Cameron Wake's path to the NFL faced more bumps in the road than the average NFL player. After having a successful career at Penn State, Wake became a member of the New York Giants in 2005 as an undrafted free agent. Wake did not even make it to training camp before being released and spending two seasons in the CFL, where he was the two-time Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
After his CFL success, Wake drew interest from several NFL teams before eventually signing with the Dolphins. Since joining the NFL, Wake has registered 43 sacks and seven forced fumbles while being named to his first All Pro team in 2012.

They both fall on years where other players just happen to be a little better. In the case of Austin it was very close between him and Grimes, but Austin's inability to stay healthy helped Grimes. In the case of Romo, he just fell into a loaded class of undrafted free agents in 03. Gates is arguably one of the best tight ends to play the game when it comes to his stats. Both guys very good hauls for the Cowboys, just not good enough to be on the list.
Tony Romo? Miles Austin?
