When a player starts at Shippensburg University and then is relegated to the Hamburg Sea Devils of the now dissolved NFL Europe, he often doesn't stand much of a chance of becoming a Pro Bowl player. Grimes defied those odds by becoming a very good cover corner for the Atlanta Falcons.
Since making the Falcons active roster in 2007, Grimes has totaled 56 pass deflections and 13 interceptions while making the 2010 Pro Bowl. Grimes has battled injuries the past two seasons, but when on the field, Grimes is considered one of the best cover cornerbacks in the NFL.

They both fall on years where other players just happen to be a little better. In the case of Austin it was very close between him and Grimes, but Austin's inability to stay healthy helped Grimes. In the case of Romo, he just fell into a loaded class of undrafted free agents in 03. Gates is arguably one of the best tight ends to play the game when it comes to his stats. Both guys very good hauls for the Cowboys, just not good enough to be on the list.
Tony Romo? Miles Austin?
