Victor Cruz Probable, Jason Pierre-Paul Doubtful
By Jonah Diltz
The New York Giants are looking to get back into the playoffs this year after a disappointing 2012 season. The start of this process involves regaining recently injured stars Victor Cruz and Jason Pierre-Paul.
Cruz who suffered from a bruised left heel in the preseason this year and was in a walking boot, has been listed as probable for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, according to an announcement by the New York Giants official Twitter account. He has participated in practice every day leading up to this Week 1 game. Cruz last season was one of the few, reliable offensive weapons for the Giants, catching 86 balls for 1,092 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Giants almost always have a solid pass rush, and one crucial piece to their defensive line is Jason Pierre-Paul who underwent back surgery in early June. Pierre-Paul is listed as questionable this week according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, but is very optimistic about his future. He has practiced the majority of this week and, barring any setbacks, could be good to go against the much talked about Cowboys offense. The big man known as J.P.P. serves as a big presence on the defensive line and would be missed in this matchup where pressure on the QB is a need.
The Giants play at Dallas in the Sunday night game.
