Clemson RB Davis to enter draft

editor1  |Jan 09,2008

CHARLESTON, South Carolina (Ticker)-- Clemson is losing one-half
of its potent rushing attack.

James Davis announced on Wednesday that he will forego his
senior season and enter the NFL draft, according to a report in
the Charleston Post and Courier.

Davis teamed with sensational sophomore C.J. Spiller to form a
devastating 1-2 punch that helped the Tigers (9-4) finish second
in the Atlantic Coast Conference in rushing (161.2 yards per
game).

"This is just my dream," Davis told the newspaper.

The 5-11, 205-pound Davis was a first-team All-ACC selection
after racking up 1,064 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

According to the newspaper, Clemson coach Tommy Bowden disagreed
with the decision. However, Davis has a 1-year-old daughter,
which may have been a contributing factor.
