editor1  |Aug 12,2008

ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Georgia starting left tackle Trinton
Sturdivant needs reconstructive surgery on his left knee and
will miss the upcoming season, coach Mark Richt announced
Tuesday.

Sturdivant was injured in the team's first scrimmage of the
summer Monday. The sophomore started all 13 games at left tackle
last season and earned freshman All-Southeastern Conference
honors.

No timetable for surgery has been set.

Sophomore Josh Davis could start in Sturdivant's place when the
top-ranked Bulldogs open their season at home against Georgia
Southern on August 30.
