Kentucky CB Warford to miss 2008 season

editor1  |Aug 04,2008

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Kentucky cornerback Paul Warford
has been declared ineligible and will be a redshirt this
season, Wildcats coach Rich Brooks announced Monday.

A junior, Warford started all 11 games in which he played last
season. He recorded 41 tackles, including a career seven in the
Wildcats' 43-37 triple overtime upset of then-No. 1 Louisiana
State.

Warford, who has two years of eligibility remaining, will not be
in school for the fall semester but plans to re-enroll in
January.

Kentucky also could be without senior offensive guard Christian
Johnson for the entire campaign.

Johnson has been sidelined with a back injury and also is
dealing with an eligibility issue. He hopes to return by the end
of August and will be enrolled in school for the fall semester,
but the injury and possible ineligibility could force him to
miss the season.

Johnson has a redshirt year available and could return for the
2009 campaign if he does not play this season. He has played in
36 games over the past three seasons, including 15 starts, and
was the Wildcats' starting left guard as a sophomore in 2006.
