Miami QB Marve among seven suspended for opener

editor1  |Aug 25,2008

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Miami red-shirt freshman quarterback Robert
Marve was one of seven players suspended for the team's season
opener, according to Sunday's Miami Herald.

Marve, who was named the starter after Sunday's practice, will
miss Thursday's opener against Charleston Southern.

The suspension stems from Marve's arrest in Coconut Grove on
October 31. He was charged with two misdemeanors after he broke
a car mirror and tried to evade police on foot.

However, the charges were dropped in March.

The 6-1, 210-pound Marve, who was "Mr. Florida Football" in 2006
as a senior at Tampa Plant, was red-shirted after breaking his
hand in a car accident last July.

True freshman Jacory Harris will start in his place.

The other players suspended for the Hurricanes' opener for
undisclosed reasons were running back Damien Berry, wide
receiver Kayne Farquharson, fullback Eric Houston, long snapper
Chris Ivory, defensive end Adewale Ojomo and safety Randy
Phillips.
