Oregon RB Stewart to enter NFL draft

editor1  |Jan 11,2008

PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- Oregon running back Jonathan
Stewart announced Friday that he will forego his senior season
and enter the NFL draft, according to a report in the Oregonian.

The report said that Stewart received some encouraging words
from NFL scouts on his draft status, which was enough to
persuade him to skip his final year of eligibility at Oregon.

Stewart, who set a Sun Bowl record with a career-high 253 yards
rushing in a 56-21 victory over South Florida on December 31,
rushed for 1,722 yards and 11 touchdowns on 280 carries in 2007.

The 230-pound Stewart gained 2,891 yards on 531 carries and 27
touchdowns in his three-year collegiate career.
