Pair of Georgia players suspended

editor1  |Jan 20,2008

ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- University of Georgia coach Mark
Richt on Sunday suspended sophomore defensive back Donavon
Baldwin and freshman fullback Fred Munzenmaier for a minimum of
one game each due to separate alcohol-related incidents.

Both will miss the 2008 season opener against Georgia Southern
on August 30, and have been assigned community service and
internal discipline, Richt said. Both incidents occurred over
the weekend.

"They know better, and I'm disappointed in both of them," Richt
said. "They will have to pay a price, but it's unfortunate the
rest of the team will also have to suffer for their poor
judgment."

A redshirt sophomore, Baldwin failed to register a tackle in
eight games for Georgia (11-2) which capped its season with a
41-10 trouncing of then-unbeaten No. 10 Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl
on New Year's Day.

Munzenmaier, who is a redshirt freshman, recorded six yards on
one carry in 10 games this season.
