JACKSONVILLE, Alabama (Ticker) -- Ryan Perrilloux has found a
new school.
Perrilloux officially transferred to Jacksonville State on
Wednesday, less than two weeks after his unceremonious dismissal
from Louisiana State's football team.
A redshirt junior, Perrilloux likely will gain immediate playing
eligibility at Jacksonville State, which finished third in the
Football Championship Subdivision's Ohio Valley Conference last
season.
"I just see this as a second opportunity to be successful,"
Perrilloux told the Birmingham News. "I am excited that I can
begin to move forward."
Despite demonstrating potential as a quarterback at LSU,
Perrilloux had multiple off-field problems during his tumultuous
tenure in Baton Rouge. The latest transgression came three
months ago, when he was suspended indefinitely following an
unspecified violation of team rules.
Apparently tired of Perrilloux's antics, Tigers coach Les Miles
dismissed the Alabama native from the team on May 2, citing
"unfulfilled obligations" as a student-athlete.
Perrilloux showed flashes of brilliance as the backup
signal-caller for reigning national champion LSU last season,
completing 68 percent of his passes for 694 yards and eight
touchdowns.
Filling in for injured starter Matt Flynn, Perrilloux was named
MVP of last year's Southeastern Conference championship game,
when he led the Tigers to a 21-14 victory over Tennessee.
