QB Mallett transfers to Arkansas

editor1  |Jan 17,2008

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (Ticker) -- Former Michigan quarterback
Ryan Mallett officially transferred to Arkansas on Thursday.

According to the school, Mallett has moved into a dorm and has
been attending classes this week.

As a freshman, Mallett passed for 892 yards and seven touchdowns
with five interceptions in limited action with the Wolverines
last season.

The 6-7, 240-pound Mallett opted to transfer from Michigan
because he is not a good fit in new coach Rich Rodriguez's
spread offense.

A five-star recruit, Mallett had interest in signing with
Arkansas out of high school until the Razorbacks signed Mitch
Mustain, who transferred to Southern California last May.

Mallett's arrival is the latest of many changes to the program
over the last month. The school has already replaced fired
coach Houston Nutt with former Atlanta Falcons coach Bobby
Petrino.

Thursday's announcement also came three days after running backs
Darren McFadden, a two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up, and Felix
Jones declared their eligibility for the upcoming NFL draft,
foregoing their senior seasons at Arkansas.
