FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (Ticker) -- With its star running back
headed to the NFL, Arkansas may have found a new quarterback.
Former Michigan quarterback Ryan Mallet may be transferring to
the Razorbacks, according to a report from The Morning News in
Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Arkansas compliance director Marvin Caston told the newspaper he
expected to receive an official transfer release from the
former five-star recruit.
"We've got the 'permission to speak' letter from the University
of Michigan, and we should have the official transfer release
from them this afternoon," Caston said.
If Mallett does transfer to the Razorbacks, it would be one of
many changes to the program over the last month. The school has
already replaced fired coach Houston Nutt with former Atlanta
Falcons coach Bobby Petrino.
Also in an expected move, two-time Heisman Trophy runner-up
Darren McFadden decided to skip his senior season and enter the
NFL Draft.
As a freshman, Mallett passed for 892 yards and seven touchdowns
with five interceptions in limited action with the Wolverines
last season.
