PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Penn State head coach Joe Paterno on
Thursday announced one game suspensions for junior defensive end
Maurice Evans, sophomore tight end Andrew Quarless and junior
defensive tackle Abe Koroma, according to the Philadelphia
Inquirer.
The 19th-ranked Nittany Lions will be without the trio for
Saturday's contest against Oregon State. The suspensions are
punishment for Tuesday's incident in which police found a small
amount of marijuana in the players' apartment while
investigating a noise complaint.
No charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
The newspaper reported that warrant listed only junior
cornerback A.J. Wallace and Quarless as residents who were
present during the search.
Evans is a preseason All-American, who recorded 12 1/2 sacks
last season. Koroma is also a starter, while Quarless is a
backup.
The suspensions are the latest in a series of off-field
incidents that Paterno has had to deal with. The 81-year-old
coach dismissed defensive tackles Phil Taylor and Chris Baker
for off-field transgressions earlier this summer.
Penn State also announced cornerback Willie Harriott has been
dismissed from the team for an unrelated issue.
