MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (Ticker) -- Bill Stewart moved a step
closer to completing his coaching staff at West Virginia, hiring
Jeff Mullen as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach
late Thursday.
Mullen joins the Mountaineers from Wake Forest, where he spent
the last four years as quarterbacks coach.
Stewart identified Mullen as the man to develop West Virginia's
spread offense.
"He has superior knowledge of offensive football, is a great
teacher and does an outstanding job as a motivator," Stewart
said. "He will install motion and movement within the framework
of our spread offense, which will make our offense even more
efficient."
Stewart is now seeking one further assistant coach to complete
his staff.
A longtime assistant, Stewart was hired as West Virginia's new
head coach after guiding the Mountaineers to a stunning 48-28
rout of Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl earlier this month.
The upset came two weeks after Stewart was named interim coach
in the wake of Rich Rodriguez's controversial departure to
Michigan.
