It's Shaping up Quickly I'm rolling in a football afterglow that was only slightly spoiled when the Saints couldn't snag a gall-darn onside kick. Two opportunities...wasted. The weekend in college that offered few “true” surprises left the LSU Tigers back at #1 in the (still crappy) BCS. The Tigers toughest test will come at the hands of an inconsistent Arkansas squad on November 23, and even though the Tigers will host, “The Battle for the Boot,” always seems to find a way to go down to the wire. It's looking as if Tennessee will own the SEC East, and that's good news for Tiger fans, as nobody wants to play Georgia in the Georgia Dome for the SEC title. LSU is clearly the best team in the nation, but they have a terrible habit of playing down to competition. For them to complete this season the way they hope, they've got a few weeks to get back to chemistry class. They've been roughed up and playing with a monster target on their back from week 1, and somehow they've survived – it would be exciting to see them play in the Superdome for all the marbles. A quick shout-out to the squad from Mississippi State, and head coach Slyvester Croom. After their season opening loss to LSU, Croom declared that the Bulldogs would be a good team by the season's end. Nice win vs. Alabama, coach. Your squad is by far the most underrated team in the SEC. In the surreal world... Kansas is ranked #3, Missouri is ranked #5 and I'll be in the Show-Me State for the battle that will take place on November 24th. “Who's gonna win,” you ask? Missouri. Am I confident? If Kansas doesn't lose in a trap game vs. Iowa State this weekend, they'll fall to the Tigers after turkey day. Is that confidence? Answer this: Who has Kansas played? The only way Missouri loses is if they turn the ball over excessively. I particularly enjoyed one article I read today that put Kansas in the Big XII Championship. No, it wasn't a prediction, but a sportswriter who clearly knows nothing about sports and shall remain nameless, because he thought Missouri's one loss eliminated them from the Big XII Championship run. We all know that's not the case, so expect a rematch of the MIZZOU v. Oklahoma in the Big XII Championship, with the winner off to New Orleans for the BCS Championship. Yeah, this year Oregon gets screwed. Eh, whattaya gonna do? Apparently there's no need for a playoff system.
