The AFC Divisional playoffs kicked off on December 26, 1970 when the Baltimore Colts hosted the Cincinnati Bengals. Led by Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas, Baltimore defeated Cincinnati 17-0 to advance to the AFC Championship Game. The Oakland Raiders defeated the Miami Dolphins 21-14 in the other AFC divisional playoff game.
The NFC divisional playoffs featured the Dallas Cowboys defeating the Detroit Lions 5-0. The following day, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings 17-14 to advance to the NFC Championship Game.
The Baltimore Colts defeated the Oakland Raiders 27-17 in the AFC Championship Game. The Dallas Cowboys beat the San Francisco 49ers 17-10 to capture the NFC crown.
The Baltimore Colts defeated the Dallas Cowboys 16-13 in Super Bowl V.
